Description |
Juvenal Reis was born in Nova America, Goias, Brazil, and currently lives and works in Long Island City, New York. He earned his BA at Casper Libero in Sao Paulo, his MS from Florida International University in Miami, and his MFA Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Influenced by minimalism, abstract expressionism, and surrealism, Mr. Reis works in oil, encaustic, mixed media, installation, and two- and three-dimensional art. About Lurking, Reis says, "In general, my work explores the ideas of revealing and concealing thoughts, feelings, and emotions. In this project I wanted to explore the learning process and yet preserve the history of the work by revealing the initial marks and layers. I wanted the viewers to be able to search and find clues on how the print was made." |
