Description |
Wil Martin is influenced by French academic drawing as well as photo-realism. These sources of influence can be seen in Personal Jesus, an image of a religious statue, found in his studio that recalls personal memories. Wil began hanging things around its neck- small, very personal artifacts from his past- a pocketknife given by his father, the horn button from his first VW bus, etc. These pieces of the past create an autobiographical story. Wil received his BFA in painting and MFA in Printmaking from Ohio State University. He now is a Professor of Art at the University of Texas-Pan American, in Edinburg, Texas. He is a draftsman and pen and ink are his media of choice. |
